The Way

So, I saw the movie The Way last night… It is about traveling the El Camino trail, adventures, relationships, and how journeys can impact us. The title struck me, because in early days of discipleship, believers in Jesus were called followers of The Way. Walking with God is a journey, and in the midst of it, we are most definitely going to meet different folks. Some who are easier to connect with, and some which require grace, patience, and even distance at times. I am grateful that as I travel the roads of life, that a variety of folks have decided I am worth keeping pace with, or even holding back for at times.

Today I took my first real hike in four months. It was so wonderful to get out and be by the creek, with a good friend, and have my body strong enough for the task. I won’t ever take this for granted… I am so thankful to be on the mend.

Tonight I watched the movie Brave, and again the theme of life paths came up– that just because something is traditional or expected does not mean you have to do it that way. I see this upcoming year as a certain diversion from ‘how things are usually done’ and am looking forward to what it will bring. What diversions have you taken? What did they teach you?

Thanks for being along for the ride!

Good question, Di…Diversions and doing things differently than expected or planned. Upon reading your blog, I am wondering if is is more difficult for me to take action on some of the quiet suggestions God gives me now that I am married and have children. I want to and think I am called to “take diversions”, yet lately, I have been focused on the conventional and have been led by the pressure of others and my fear of criticism.

Thanks for this moment for me to reflect! (And you thought your journey would just enrich YOUR life! :-)) Love you!

The conventional does get a lot of our attention… And diversions don’t need to be large, maybe just singing a voicemail message to your honey, or Isaac in bubbles ;). Enjoy something different, and see how it might shift a day…
I remember playing in the leaves with you and Isaac on a recent visit, that was a sweet diversion :). Glad to give you pause.. I also encourage you that instead of fear, think how you can inspire others by being a little unconventional?? Would love to hear if this prompts anything.
